La Bancaria, Argentina’s bank clerks union, announced through a statement that they have collected one million signatures all across Argentina for a petition to demand that the institution is not privatized. The signatures also support a bill drafted by national Congressmen Sergio Palazzo and Carlos Cisneros that proposes that Banco Nación cannot be privatized, neither total nor partially, or transformed into a corporation.
The proposed bill will be introduced to Congress on April 25, with a demonstration to the National Congress in Buenos Aires. “Once again, History calls us to defend our beloved Banco Nación”, reads the statement published by La Bancaria union.
“We call all workers of Banco Nación, as well as all citizens, to participate and be protagonists of this demonstration in defense of Banco Nación and our homeland”, the statement continues, and also underlines “the huge effort done by workers of every bank office” to collect the signatures.
