On Wednesday evening, Buenos Aires Province Governor Axel Kicillof showed his support to state workers who have been massively fired in recent days by Javier Milei’s government and repudiated the “militarization” of state dependencies to prevent workers from entering the offices.
“Amid a dengue epidemic, we have an absent National Government who abandons people and doesn’t take care of anybody”, wrote the governor on his X account, while considering that “with Milei as President, the government is only present to fire workers, increase prices, keep wages low and defend privileges”.
“We woke up to find Conicet (Argentina’s National Scientific and Technical Research Council) and other public dependencies practically militarized. It was a sad and cruel spectacle that will remain in our memory as one of the most representative images of these dark times”, Kicillof said.
The governor referred in this way to the National Government’s decision to deploy security forces at the doors of Conicet, the National Meteorological Service, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Secretariat of Labor and the former Ministry of Science and Technology, among other state dependencies, to prevent fired workers from entering the buildings.
Finally, Kicillof showed his support “to all fired workers” and stated: “Our commitment is to do everything in our hands to protect the rights of the people of Buenos Aires and to mitigate Milei’s attacks on the rights and daily lives of families”.
