Buenos Aires governor Axel Kicillof said on Saturday that he signed a complaint “against President Javier Milei to be filed in the Supreme Court, so they give us back the funds for retirees, teachers and transport”.
Kicillof made the announcement at the La Plata Port, during a multi-sector rally called “Sovereignty, production and labor”, in which workers of the La Plata area demonstrated for their rights and for the dredging of the Magdalena Canal.
The rally took place in the district of Ensenada, with the presence of Vice Governor Verónica Magario, La Plata mayor Julio Alak, Ensenada mayor Mario Secco, Berisso mayor Fabián Cagliardi and Avellaneda mayor Jorge Ferraresi.
Kicillof said that “the Magdalena Canal has not been built yet because of foreign economic interests that want a subjugated Buenos Aires and Argentina”.
“It is not an issue of funding or projects, but of resolve, drive and courage: if the national Government doesn’t want to do it, the provincial Government will take care of it, and it will be our battle flag for national sovereignty”, he added.
Along that line, the governor said: “We are here to defend the interests of our province: on Friday I signed a complaint against President Milei, to be filed in the Supreme Court, so they give us back the funds for retirees, teachers and transport”.
Then, he emphasized: “Time is running out. We cannot wait any longer. We asked nicely, via notes, letters, complaints; now, we must take to the streets because this is an entire province struggling for its health care, education and employment”.
“Today we are also commemorating April 27, 1979, when -like every time our homeland was threatened- the organized workers’ movement led a strike that was the beginning of the end of the dictatorship”, Kicillof said, and added: “We are filled with pride to see that our people don’t change their minds and defend our historical flags: Perón, Evita, Néstor and Cristina”.
The provincial government demands for funds and remittances that were already reserved, the reactivation of public works that the national administration decided to stop, as well as the continuity of the Transport Compensating Fund and the Teachers’ Incentive National Fund.
The Buenos Aires administration has filed complaints against the National Government due to the cutbacks and another complaint for the Fund for Fiscal Reinforcement (FOFOFI, by its initials in Spanish), which must be analyzed by the National Supreme Court of Justice.
